Support the herd

Help us feed the herd

More than a hundred donkeys are fed here every day of the year, and donations are what make that possible.

A one-time gift

$5

Your gift goes directly toward feed for the animals in our care.

This is a single gift. Nothing recurs, and there is nothing to cancel.

Give monthly instead

$25 a month, or $5.77 a week

A membership of $25 a month works out at $5.77 a week, which is 77 cents more than giving $5 once a week.

Recurring gifts are the income we are able to budget against, and they are what allow us to commit to an animal at the moment we are called about one rather than waiting to see whether the funds arrive.

This is a recurring gift of $25, charged every month until you stop it. The Crew is our online community, and it runs on Patreon: that is where checkout happens, and where the tier is called Barn Crew. Cancel any time from your own account, without contacting us.

How your donation is used

  • Hay and feed

Feed is our largest and most consistent expense, and it is the one cost that never pauses. A single donkey works through a considerable quantity of hay over a Tennessee winter, and there are more than a hundred animals in our care.

  • Farrier care

Every animal here needs its hooves trimmed on a regular cycle. A number of them arrive with feet so overgrown that they cannot walk properly, and correcting that takes months of consistent care.

  • Veterinary care

Routine veterinary costs cover worming, vaccinations and dental work. Animals rescued from neglect also require a good deal of unplanned treatment, and that is the part we cannot budget for in advance.

Why we do this

Cash's Crew Rescue exists to rescue, rehabilitate and provide permanent sanctuary for donkeys that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. We provide veterinary care and rehabilitation for animals that arrive in poor condition, and we place those that recover sufficiently into permanent homes that we have assessed.

We also work to improve public understanding of donkeys, which are commonly treated as working livestock rather than as the intelligent and highly social animals they are. Donations fund both parts of that work, and the majority of what we receive is spent on day-to-day care.
