Rescue story
Barney came to us pregnant. Whoever had her before either did not know or did not care, and she arrived carrying a foal into a situation nobody had planned for. That happens more than you would think. A jenny gets passed along, nobody checks, and then one morning there is a baby. Except by the time hers came, she was already here. Safe, fed, watched over, with people who knew what to do. Her daughter was born on this farm and has never known anything else. We named that foal Esperanza. It means hope. Barney is out in the main pasture and her girl is here too. Whatever her life was before, the most important thing that ever happened to her happened after she got here.
Virtually adopted
Barney is looked after with the help of Sara Weldon, whose monthly support pays for feed, feet and vet care.
