Rescue story
Esperanza was born here. Her mama came to us already carrying her, which means this foal was on her way into a situation nobody had planned for, and by the time she arrived her mother was already safe. She has never known anything but this place. No auction, no kill pen, no hard start. Her whole life has happened inside the fence line. We named her Esperanza. It means hope, and it is hard to think of a better word for a baby born to a rescued mother on the far side of everything her mama went through. She was shy for a long time, which surprised us given how she came up. She took her time deciding about people. But she got there, and now she is a complete lovebug. Her mother is here too. She never had to leave her.

Esperanza is looked after with the help of Sara Weldon, whose monthly support pays for feed, feet and vet care.
