Rescue story
Geoffrey was a baby when he got here. Our notes say young baby, which is not much to go on but tells you the important part. He was small enough that somebody wrote it down twice. A foal who needs rescuing means something went wrong for his mother, and we do not know what. That thread does not lead anywhere in our records. It is one of the things about this work that you have to make peace with. You get the animal, you do not always get the story. Around the barn we called him Birch. His adopting family chose Geoffrey, which is a very serious name for a donkey and suits him better than it should. He grew up here. Whatever the first weeks of his life were, they were the shortest part of it.
Virtually adopted
Geoffrey is looked after with the help of Kimberly Stahl, whose monthly support pays for feed, feet and vet care.
