Rescue story

Roan came to us as Jack number two. There was a jack number one, and there was him, and that is genuinely as much as the record holds. No origin, no age, no history. Two donkeys arrived and somebody wrote down which was which so they could be told apart at feeding time. We named him Roan. It is not a grand name and he did not do anything heroic to earn it. He simply needed one, the way everybody does. He is a standard donkey in the main pasture and he is available for adoption. Whoever picks him will know more about him within a month than we have managed to learn in all this time, because they will be paying attention to the part that is still being written.
