Sponsorship Continuity Policy

Cash's Crew Rescue, Inc. · Effective August 2026

Why this exists

Virtual adoption creates a real relationship between a supporter and an animal. Two things can end that animal's time on our adoption roster: they pass away, or they are placed into a permanent home.

This policy sets out what happens to your sponsorship in either case, so that no supporter is ever surprised, and so that every member of our team handles it the same way.

You decide what happens next. We never decide for you, and we never let a system decide for you.

When a sponsored donkey passes away

How you hear about it

We contact you personally before anything changes on your account and before any public announcement.

It comes from Sara or the Patreon manager, by email or phone, written to you and to nobody else. No template, no bulk send, no automated notice.

If you named the donkey, that is the name we use throughout.

What you can choose

Then you choose. Both of these are equally welcome.

  1. 1

    Continue in her memory

Your sponsorship carries on at the same tier and goes to the general care of the herd. You keep your place in the community and stay connected to the donkey you loved.

  2. 2

    Transfer to another donkey

You pick the new one yourself. We offer a short list of suggestions, favoring the donkeys who were pastured with or bonded to the one you lost, but the choice is entirely yours.

If you would rather end your sponsorship, that is fine too. We handle it with thanks and no friction, and the door stays open.

The memorial page

Their page stays live on this website permanently, marked In Loving Memory.

It keeps the name you gave, shown as their name, along with the full rescue story, their photographs, and the dates they arrived and passed.

The page is never deleted, never archived, and never reassigned to another donkey. The relationship was real, and the record of it stays.

When a sponsored donkey goes to a permanent home

We do place donkeys into permanent homes. We cannot keep every animal forever, and a good home is a good outcome. Placement is not a failure of sanctuary, and we treat it as the happy ending it is.

How you hear about it

As above, you hear it from us personally, before the placement is announced publicly and before your account changes.

This is good news. Your donkey is going to a home we vetted and approved, and your sponsorship is part of what got them ready for it.

What you can choose

Then you choose.

  1. 1

    Continue sponsoring

Your sponsorship carries on at the same tier and supports the herd. Where the adopting family is willing, we pass along occasional updates and photographs from the new home.

  2. 2

    Transfer to another donkey

You pick the new one yourself, the same way as above.

Their page

It stays live, marked Adopted Into a Home, keeping the name you gave, the rescue story and the photographs.

Where the adopting family agrees to share them, photographs from the new home are added.

What we hold ourselves to

Nothing moves before you answer
No account change, no tier reassignment and no public post happens until we have contacted you and heard back. If we do not hear from you within fourteen days, your sponsorship continues exactly as it is and we follow up once more.
The name you give is permanent
It stays with the donkey unless you ask us to change it. That holds after a death and after a placement. A few founding and historically significant donkeys have names locked in our records that no sponsor can change.
These conversations are not delegated
Sara or the Patreon manager handles them, and nobody further down. They are among the most important conversations we have with our supporters.
